The Lychgate

We know that many of us in the town are concerned about the damage to the Lychgate on the Market Square.

Whilst a part of the church estate, the Lychgate, the walls surrounding the graveyard and the graveyard itself are all maintained by Chichester District Council.

We are working with them and other relevant parties to effect repairs to the Lychgate and updates will be posted here as and when we have them. Here is an initial statement from our Vicar, explaining what has happened and what we are doing about it:

An Update (28th November):
Chichester District Council will be 'shoring up' the gate on Wednesday the 4th December.

Assuming the gate can satisfactorily be made safe, it is CDC's intention to reduce the scale of the protective barriers on Thursday the 5th December.....just in time for the Street Party!
