Holy Week & Easter 2022

Palm Sunday (10th)
10:30am – Palm Sunday service of the Word.  Following our programme of services, a second Sunday is a service of the Word (non-Eucharistic).  The service will include the Palm Gospel (Jesus riding into Jerusalem) and the giving of Palm Crosses.  There is Sparks for the children (who begin in the church before heading out to the Old Library for their group.  This service will be on Zoom.  You will find the service sheet and how to join the meeting online HERE.

Monday (11th)
7:30pm – Compline with reflection.  This half-hour service includes a hymn, a reading, and the service of Night Prayer (traditionally known as Compline).  Reflective and quiet in style.  Not on Zoom.

Tuesday (12th)
7:30pm Compline with reflection at All Hallows Woolbeding. Not on Zoom.

Wednesday (13th)
10:00 Holy Communion. Our usual mid-week Communion service followed by refreshments.  This service is not on Zoom. 

7:30pm Compline with reflection.  Not on Zoom.

Maundy Thursday (14th)
8pm Holy Communion with optional vigil until 10pm.  This service commemorates the Last Supper and Jesus washing the Disciples’ feet.  The moving service is followed by a time of silent prayer interspersed with readings up to 10pm in the Southampton Chapel.  It is absolutely fine to leave after the service, to stay for part or all of the vigil as you wish.  This service (but not the vigil) will be available to join in with online on Zoom.  You will find the service sheet and how to join the meeting online HERE.

Good Friday (15th)
9:30am Service at Midhurst Methodist Church, followed by…

10:30am Walk of Witness.  The walk begins outside the Methodist Church before making its way to Midhurst Parish Church and the Roman Catholic Church with stops for readings and prayers at each.  You do not have to have attended the service beforehand to join in with the walk.  

10am Messy Easter – family craft, food, and fun. Great Easter craft, egg and spoon races, hot-cross-buns, the Easter story and a song with Marco.  A free service aimed at families with children who are primary school age or a little younger.  Finish time is Midday and the service is not on Zoom.  

2pm Service of the Cross.  Join us for the final hour and a service reflecting upon Jesus’ final words from the cross.  Hymns, music, short reflections and times of reflection.  This service will be available to join in with online on Zoom. Easter Sunday (17th)
6am – Sunrise Service on St Ann’s Hill.  One for the early risers, but a really joyful experience (especially when its not raining!).  A short service with candle lighting, the Easter Gospel, and prayers, is followed by coffee and pastries in St Ann’s Hall.  Please make your way to and from the hill as quietly as possible out of consideration to our neighbours.  This service is not on Zoom. 

8:30am – Holy Communion at All Hallows Woolbeding.  Celebrate Easter at beautiful All Hallows with Holy Communion from the Book of Common Prayer.  This service is not on Zoom. 

10:30am – Easter Celebration Eucharist.  Join us for this wonderful celebration of Easter beginning with the procession of the Paschal Candle and including wonderful Easter hymns, the Reaffirmation of Baptismal Vows, and Holy Communion.  There will be Easter activities for children provided during the service at St Ann’s Hall (Children to begin in church).  The service is followed by refreshments for all and an Easter Egg hunt for the children!  This service will be available to join in with online on Zoom.
