Each year the patronal festival is an opportunity to celebrate the life of the church. This year is a special one for us as our patron saint’s day has fallen on a Sunday. We actually have 2 patron saints – Mary Magdalene and Denys and we choose to celebrate on Mary Magdalene’s day (22nd July) as it’s in the summer!
Our festival weekend includes two events. On the evening of the 21st July we are welcoming The Walton Voices who will be offering a concert entitled ‘Music for a Royal Occasion – From Purcel to Parry.’ You can find out more about the Walton Voices here and can buy tickets (£12.50) after church on a Sunday, from the parish office or from The Tall Dog on Rumbold’s Hill.
On Sunday the 22nd we would love you to join us for our big Celebration Service and Hog Roast! The service begins at 11am and will be extra special – with contributions from the Primary school children, the Rainbows and the ignite youthgroup. The service will be led by the Bishop of Chichester, Bishop Martin, who will also be preaching. After the service we will be staying for lunch – a big hog-roast on the town Square just outside the church (a veggie alternative is available). To help with planning we are asking people to let us know that they are eating and for a donation of £5 per adult towards the cost. You can sign up after a service or drop an email to the church office.
We really would like to share this celebration with as many people as possible and hope that you will join us for either (or both!) of these events.
