Mothers’ Union is an international Christian charity with four million members in more than eighty countries around the world. Women, men, married, single, young or old: our members demonstrate their Christian faith through actions that seek the transformation of families and communities worldwide.

Our local Mothers’ Union meets on the fourth Wednesday in the month, usually in St Ann’s Hall. We join together to hear speakers, discuss topics related to Mothers’ Union work and social events. Money is raised throughout the year (mainly through Raffles and Bring and Buys at our meetings) to help with projects, such as parenting groups; holidays for families who need a break (there are caravans at Selsey and Winchelsea owned and maintained by the Mothers’ Union). A creche is also organised by members at Ford and Lewis prisons for children visiting their fathers. Members in Eastbourne run a contact centre where a parent can meet their child on neutral ground if family relationships have broken down. Money is raised to help our members overseas to carry out their work, especially in emergencies. Visitors and new members are always welcome to our meetings. If you are unable to come to meetings (which we know is difficult for many), please try to think of helping us out in other ways. Thank you.

Our branch is part of the Chichester Diocese and District Mothers’ Union and members attend functions within the area to unite with members throughout the diocese.

Members pray and support the work within their churches and many play a very active part in the organisation of the parishes.

Mothers’ Union Prayer

Loving Lord, We thank you for your love so freely given to us all. We pray for families around the world. Bless the work of the Mothers’ Union as we seek to share your love through the encouragement, strengthening and support of marriage and family life. Empowered by your Spirit may we be united in prayer and worship and in love and service reach out as your Hands across the world. In Jesus’ name,  Amen
